The Job
The Modern Apprenticeship Gas Service Engineer programme offers the opportunity to gain practical work experience whilst undertaking training at College. The programme consists of units such as work safety, cold water systems, site procedures, heating technology, drawing and design, ACS gas courses.

Training
Training will include attendance at a local College of Further Education (off-the-job training) and also at an employers’ premises/sites (on-the-job training) . All employers’ and and their premises are assessed by a SNIPEF Regional Training Officer for compliance with Health & Safety requirements. Employers and apprentices are monitored by a Regional Training Officer on a quarterly basis during the first 3 years.

To enter the industry as an apprentice gas service engineer, you will need a minimum of 4 Standard grades preferably including English, maths and a science subject. In addition, all entrants must successfully complete and achieve a score of 60 in the Plumbing Industry’s Entrance Selection Test.
