The Job
Employer led - all travel companies in Scotland.
You will be dealing with the public both face-to-face and over the telephone, providing information, and booking travel and ancillary services (eg insurance, car hire, hotels, accommodation).
Training
Most of the training is given on-the-job, and through structured self-study. Off-the-job training takes place at training centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh, together with conferences held in England as part of the programme. Assessment takes place in the workplace using electronic evidence collection and paperless portfolios.

Basic skills essential, as well as good communication and written skills. Personal qualities rather than qualifications are more sought after, for example outgoing, enthusiastic, smart appearance.
Promotion to Travel Consultant, Senior Travel Consultant, Manager or opportunities to move into other parts of the industry eg. Business Travel, Tour Operating, Airlines.
You should be interested in travel geography and destinations and should enjoy dealing with the public and solving problems. It is important that you are reliable and able to work without supervison and as part of a team. There will be a requirement to use computers as part of the job.
